Three Movies

This weekend we rented three movies: Soul Plane, Man on Fire and Paycheck.

1. Soul Plane Grade: C

Soul Plane was not good. It wasn't entirely bad either. The plot was a little thin, but there were a lot of interesting characters in the movie. Most of the humor was pretty racist. Anyway lets just say I am glad I didn't see it in a movie theater.

2. Paycheck Grade: B-

This was the most recent John Woo movie staring Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman. I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't the greatest action movie ever, but it was pretty good. The premise was cool. Ben Affleck is this reverse engineer who basically has his mind erased whenever he finishes a job. After his most recent one, he wakes up to find he waived his paycheck and received 20 different items which are supposed to help him figure out what the hell is going on. If you like action, I say give this one a try. It is one of Ben Affleck's better recent movies.

3. Man on Fire Grade: B

This was the best of the three movies we rented. This movie stars Denzel Washington as a bodyguard for Dakota Fanning in Mexico City. I didn't realize kidnapping was so bad in Latin America but after some research I found that Man on Fire was fairly accurate. For more see this recent article in The Washington Times. The beginning of the movie is a little slow but the last hour or so is pretty good. It was one of a few movies with Denzel that I actually liked. I generally do not care for his acting, but I would recommend this movie.
