Brendon Edward Murray

Brendan Edward Murray, 22, a second-year law student at the Texas Tech University School of Law, passed away early Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. Brendan, a Lubbock native, graduated from All Saints Episcopal School in 1999 and from Lubbock High School in 2002. He was a member of the Lubbock High School 2002 State Champion Academic Decathlon team which advanced after winning the Texas championship to place third in the national competition in Arizona. In May 2005, Brendan graduated with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Government. While attending UT, he began working for the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and continued to work for them until his death.
Brendan was currently serving as treasurer of the Texas Tech Law School Democrats.
Family and friends knew Brendan to be a kind, loving, committed and compassionate young man. He possessed a razor wit, great sense of humor, and loved the Longhorns. He was an ardent Democrat. Fluent in Spanish, he served as an interpreter with a 2004 Volunteers in Mission medical team that offered medical services to the underserved in Guatemala. Brendan was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Parish in Lubbock.
A visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m., Friday at Sanders Funeral Home with Rosary services being recited at 7 p.m., Friday at Sanders Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m., Saturday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, officiating will be Monsignor Eugene Driscoll.
Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Box 4004, Lubbock, Texas79409-0004), or the Texas Tech Law School Democrats (1802 Hartford Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79409).
Preceded in death by grandparents, Anne and Paul Murray, and John Hart, he is survived by his parents, Brian and Lynne; his brothers, Patrick and Roarke of Lubbock; his grandmother, Marie Hart of Levelland; his godmother and aunt, Beth Hart of Lubbock; aunts and uncles also include Hugh (Neva) Murray of Lubbock, Texas, Terry (Rick) Paulette of Olympia, Washington, Jay (Bobbie) Hart of Bellevue, Washington, Jim (Gertrude) of Gahanna, Ohio, and Dan (Lisa) of The Plains, Ohio, and "Uncle" Patrick Metze of Lubbock. Brendan is also survived by many beloved cousins and friends.
